The Melt - Finally!!

It's been a long winter, no question! Today being so nice, and me being bored, I decided to get out and get my creative juices flowing for once. It's about time the camera gets so good use!

When the snow melts, there's so much opportunity to photograph something different and unique. It's a crazy time of year if you really concentrate on all the small things happening. Here are some photos I created today, and I hope you enjoy them!

Can you guess which ones are upside-down from their original orientation? :)

The Booth! - Event Fun

The Booth is a fun addition to any event!

This featured wedding was a blast to photograph, and the booth was even more fun.

There are many different ways to setup the photo booth, but my preference is a bright clean backdrop with bright props to put all the focus on the subject!

Inquire if you'd like to see a booth at YOUR event!

I HAVE A STAMP

It's official now right?

Well after taking 2013 off, I'm back for 2014 with a new look! It starts with customized flash drives courtesy of Flash Bay, a wooden stamp from R Stamp and some Kraft!

It's been exciting working on the new brand while the cold has trouble staying away. I've been tuning in to many many podcasts like Photo Biz X, Improve Photography, and Full Time Photographer trying to stay on top of some of the latest trends and business models. It's a tough industry, but I'll take it one step at a time and see where it takes me!

One thing in particular that I'm looking forward to implementing in my business, is to give back to my clients. There are so many different ways to spend money on marketing and advertising, but I never really know how it's going to pay off or if it'll be worth it. The greatest tip I've heard so far is to spend the money you would on marketing and treat your clients till they can't stop talking about you! One step towards that is to send my wedding clients a little personalized thank-you card with a gift card to some of my favorite coffee shops. Jonny's Java and Thom Bargen are two of my favorites, and I'm more than stoked to bring them business!

In this post I've featured my new stamp which will be plastered on my business cards, envelopes, thank-you's, contracts, and anything else I can think of! Also my business cards printed and cut at home, thank-you cards printed at home and custom flash drives with a jute tie and a kraft, stamped envelope!

I hope you enjoy the simplicity of my brand!

Pink Jeep Tours, Sedona Arizona

I'm quite excited to show you some photos of the Pink Jeep Tour we took while in Sedona, Arizona! My wife Richelle, sister Jen and myself did the Diamondback Gulch Tour which was $79 per adult, and approx. 2.5 hours total. This 4x4 tour offers great views of famous rock formations such as Capitol Butte, Chimney Rock, Lizard Head, and Doe Mesa.

While on the tour, we met up with another Jeep from A Day in the West, which is the yellow jeep in some photos.

The tour made it pretty difficult to get some clear photos, because of how rough it was, but the more you shoot, the better the outcome! We only had one stop when we got to the other side of the grand arroyo to take some photos and experience the views. Other than that, all the other shots were while driving, which made it quite the challenge, but a great challenge none the less!

We were really fortunate to end the day with some fantastic light, and an epic sunset.

I hope you enjoy the tour!

Enjoying Estrella - Goodyear Arizona

I enjoyed the relaxing by the pool while spending time down in Arizona this February. Even though the pool was not heated, and rather frigid, we still found ways to enjoy it, and once in a while did take a quick dip!

I played around a little with my camera in one hand, and my flash in the other, shooting the kids doing their thing. I had a lot of fun and really like the effect high speed sync gives when shooting in the mid-day sunshine. I did however find out that one flash head does NOT reach far when it's this bright out!

I've done quite a bit with off-camera flash photography outside, but I want to do more. I'd like to have a flash off-camera be one of my main pieces of equipment, as it gives an added depth to the image, and offers so much more workability!

There are some photographs in this post that are taken with no flash, but most with flash. Can you tell which ones are which?

This more journalistic approach gives a much more candid look, and doesn't necessarily make a beautiful portrait, but more so tells a story.

I'd love to hear what you think!
